Quantity available: 1. From: Orphans Treasure Box (Champaign, IL, U.S.A.) Reading like a series of folk tales, Andric tells of the social history of the people of a small town in Bosnia through the almost 400 year history of the bridge the Turks built there between 1566 and 1571. Ivo Andric narrates the building of and the happenings on the bridge from the time of its inception by an Istambul vizir (born near it), and some of the more interesting characters, up the first World War. It is a steady book, well written and unusual.
